1. Introduction

At fastFinder, we believe that your data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. Our core philosophy is simple: Local First. We do not collect personal data from your searches or file usage.

2. Data Collection

We operate on a strict no-tracking policy for core functionality:

  • Local Processing: All file indexing and searching happens locally on your machine. No file names, contents, or metadata are sent to our servers.
  • Usage Data: We do not track your usage patterns, search history, or application launches.
  • Updates: The application checks for updates by querying our GitHub releases. This process logs only standard web request data (IP address, User Agent) on GitHub's servers, subject to GitHub's privacy policy.

3. External Services

When you use specific plugins or integrations (e.g., web search), queries are sent directly to the respective service providers (e.g., Google, DuckDuckGo). These interactions are subject to the privacy policies of those third-party providers. fastFinder does not intercept or store these queries.

4. Security

Since fastFinder operates locally, your data security is primarily tied to your own device's security. We do not maintain a cloud database of user information to breach.
